Our Vehicle
The GAVA Explorations vehicle is sourced based on the needs of the individual safaris. Our philosophy is to make the tour as educational and comfortable as possible, tailoring it to specific needs and interests.
There is ample space in the vehicle and unobstructed views for photography.
NB. A no-smoking policy is adhered to on all GAVA Explorations’ vehicles. We will, however, schedule regular stops for those needing smoke breaks.
Luggage
Soft bags are recommended and each person is allowed a medium sized bag plus camera bag. Where small charter flights are included in the itinerary a maximum of 12 kgs of luggage is allowed per person for safety reasons.
Food
We pride ourselves on supplying a variety of delicious meals and believe that an integral part of any safari is the opportunity to taste the local cuisine. Some meals are taken in local restaurants. At lodges, the lodge staff prepares all meals. The drinking water provided is completely safe to drink, and bottled water is also available.
Health
We suggest that clients take malaria prophylaxis for the duration of their stay in Africa. Malaria is prevalent throughout Africa and certain vaccinations are also required. Clients must contact their physician or local travel clinic that will be able to give relevant medical advice.
GAVA Explorations carries a basic first aid kit on all vehicles and all guides attend first aid courses regularly.
Wild Animals
Many of the animals and reptiles we will see are potentially dangerous. No fences exist around our campsites. Attacks by wild animals are rare, but we cannot guarantee that such incidents will not occur. Neither GAVA Explorations nor any of their staff members or agents can be held liable or responsible for any accidents or injuries caused by the behaviour of wild animals.
Driving Conditions
Most roads in Africa are often bumpy and rough. GAVA Explorations, its staff and agents cannot be held liable or responsible for any injuries or damages that might occur due to rough road circumstances.
Visas
All passport holders should verify with their travel agency or relevant consulate if any for visa entry requirements.
Insurance
As soon as clients book a safari, it is essential that they purchase travel insurance to cover against cancellation fees or any other eventualities. Baggage insurance, especially for valuable camera equipment is highly advisable. It is imperative that clients travel with medical/accident insurance. Please ensure that clients’ medical insurance covers emergency repatriation as well. Clients must expect to pay any medical costs on the spot and be reimbursed by their insurance company later. GAVA Explorations will not accept participants on any safari without proof of insurance.
Liabilities
Our safaris are planned and routed to expose clients to as much wilderness and wildlife as possible. However, because animals are wild, free and their movements and migrations unpredictable, we may be required to make reasonable changes to the itinerary to ensure your fullest enjoyment and comfort. Comparable accommodation and facilities will be substituted as far as possible. Should such changes occur, adjustments might need to be made to the safari fee with little or no notice.
Most roads travelled on our safaris are mere tracks in the dirt; therefore, the journey is often bumpy and rough. Many of the animals and reptiles we will encounter are potentially dangerous. Attacks by wild animals are rare, but we cannot guarantee that such incidents will not occur. GAVA Explorations cannot be held liable for the loss, damage or theft of personal belongings, nor can they be held liable for any accidents, personal injury or illness.
